--How to Counter Computer Freeze Problem?--

11:16 PM Unknown 0 Comments

There will be two reasons....

The Hardware Problem

1. If your computer successfully loaded into Windows, and only freeze during video or music playing, you probably have a bad player or your video card
accelerated too much, try reduce the video card acceleration settings. (Right Click Desktop => Properties => Settings =>Advance => TroubleShoot => try to
reduce the Hardware acceleration)

2. Check and feel if your computer is over heated, never over clock your PC unless you know what you are doing. You might need a good cooling system if your
computer always over heated, and over heating can cause slow down and freeze. (May be you need extra fan or water cooling?)

3. If your computer successfully loaded Windows but freeze before you run any application, try to disable the network. If the network disabled and
everything is normal, reinstall the network driver or check your network IP settings. Never use the same cable and plug two ends to the same router, the
whole network will be turtle slow!

The Software Problem

1. If your computer is normal and only freeze when running certain software application, you can try to uninstall the software, then use registry cleaner to
clean any unwanted registry entries before reinstalling the software.

2. If the problem still persists, try to disable some services related to the network, you may easily done this with "msconfig" (Start=>Run=>Type
"msconfig"=> Services) or Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Remember to create a restore point and find out each service functionality
before trying to disable it.

3. If your computer just freeze recently after installation of certain software, try to uninstall the software and use restore point to restore to thes time
before installing the software.

--NTLDR is missing--

9:39 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Create a boot floppy disk by using a Windows XP-based computer

1. Format a floppy disk by using the Windows XP format utility. To do this follow these steps:a. Insert the floppy disk that you want to use into the floppy disk drive. b. Click Start, click Run, type format a:, and then click OK.

2. Copy the Ntldr and the Ntdetect.com files from the I386 folder on the Windows XP installation CD-ROM, from the Windows XP installation floppy disk, or from a computer that is running the same version of Windows XP as the computer that you want to access by using the boot floppy disk. To do this, follow these steps:a. Insert the Windows XP installation media into the disk drive of the computer. b. Click Start, click Run, type :\I386, and then click OK.
Note represents the root location of the installation media. c. Right-click the Ntldr file, and then click Copy. d. Click Start, click Run, type a:, and then click OK. e. Click the Edit menu, and then click Paste. f. Repeat steps 2b through 2e for the Ntdetect.com file.

3. Create a Boot.ini file, or copy one from a computer that is running Windows XP, and then modify the Boot.ini file to match the computer that you are trying to access. The following example lists how to create a Boot.ini file for a single-partition Integrated Device Electronics drive that has Windows XP installed in the \Windows folder:a. Click Start, click Run, type notepad, and then click OK. b. Type the following text: [boot loader]timeout=30Default= multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows[operating systems]multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows=""
Note The value that is represented by the placeholder depends on the configuration of the Windows XP computer that you are trying to access. For example, if you are trying to start a Windows XP Professional computer, this value is as follows:Microsoft Windows XP Professional c. Click the File menu, and then click Save As. d. Select 3 ½ Floppy (A:) from the Save in drop-down list, type Boot.ini in the File name text box, and then click Save. Note If your computer starts from a SCSI hard disk drive, you may have to replace the multi(0) entry with scsi(0). If you are using scsi(x) in the Boot.ini file, copy the correct device driver for the SCSI controller that is used on the computer to the root of the boot disk, and then rename the device driver to Ntbootdd.sys. Change the disk(0) number to represent the SCSI-ID of the hard disk drive you want to start. If you are using multi(x) in the Boot.ini file, you do not have to change the code in the Boot.ini file.

4. Insert the floppy disk into the floppy disk drive of your computer, and then restart Windows

Why is my phone line so noisy?

3:52 AM Unknown 0 Comments

This could be due to several reasons:

  • A bad splitter/filter installation.
  • A faulty modem (in the case of splitterless configuration).
  • A faulty splitter/filter.
Try to disconnect your modem from your current phone line connection and check if the noise is still there. If it is, please call your nearest Kedai Telekom to get your phone line checked. If your phone line has noise only when your modem is connected, then it could be due to a faulty modem (in the event of a modem with a built in microfilter) or a faulty micro filter (if you have an external microfilter).

I often get disconnected when I'm surfing. Why?

3:06 AM Unknown 0 Comments

This could be due to several reasons:

Trying to reinstall the dialer.
A faulty modem. Try using a different modem.
Bad copper pair quality and/or connectivity from your house to the exchange.

Reboot your modem. This will re-synchronize the modem with the DSL Access Multiplexer at the local exchange. Wait for several minutes until the 'link' light stops blinking. If it does not, call your Customer Interaction Center for further assistance.

I can connect, but I can't surf the Internet. Why ?

2:47 AM Unknown 0 Comments

I can connect, but I can't surf the Internet. Why ?

Browsing problems can be due to several reasons:

  • Incorrect OS network configuration settings.
  • Virus infected system.
  • Bad browser configuration.
  • Network problems.

In order to isolate the problem, please follow the steps below:

Ping test

Ping is a simple tool that allows you to identify whether your Internet connectivity is still functioning. Follow the simple steps below:

1. Go to Start > Programs > MS-DOS Prompt

2. When the command prompt window appears, type ping 202.188.0.133 and press 'Enter'.

Successful Test

You should be able to see a result similar to this:

Reply from 202.188.0.133 bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253
Reply from 202.188.0.133 bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253
Reply from 202.188.0.133 bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253
Reply from 202.188.0.133 bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253

If your ping test was successful, try to ping a URL. For example type ping www.yahoo.com or ping helpmefixz.blogspot.com at the command prompt. If you get a timeout error or destination host unreachable, it could be that your DNS is not resolving properly. Call our Customer Interaction Center for further assistance. If you get a successful ping result it means that the tmnet streamyx connection is working fine and the problem could be at your browser or with the settings within your computer.

Failed Test

Timeout error

If you see this message:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

OR

Destination Host Unreachable error

Destination Host Unreachable.
Destination Host Unreachable.
Destination Host Unreachable.

It could be that your connection has not properly established. Disconnect your current connection and reconnect. If this does not solve your problem, call our Customer Interaction Center to enable us to check your connection.

If you encounter problems surfing to a particular site, use the above method to check if the site is available. For example, if you cannot surf to a site helpmefixz.blogspot.com or www.google.com, you can apply the above method by typing the command as:

  • c:\>ping helpmefixz.blogspot.com
  • c:\>ping www.google.com

Working condition

You should see a result similar to this:

Reply from 202.71.97.44 bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=253

Timeout error

If you see this message:

Request timed out.

The site is probably down for network maintenance or for some other cause.

Note: Some nodes will turn off their response to the PING command for security reasons..

I can't get connected to the ISP . Why?

2:35 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Phone line or cable
In order for you to use the internet service, you must ensure that your phone line or cable is in working order. To check if your phone line is functioning, lift your phone receiver and check for a dial tone. If you can't hear any tone on the receiver, please call cable provider or phone line provider.

Modem - line - filter connectivity
You need to check your modem - line - microfilter connectivity. Please ensure that all the cables are fitted properly and the modem is powered ON.

Modem 'link' light status
Does the modem 'link' light continuously blink?
If yes, then there is a local access problem between your modem and the DSL Access Multiplexer at the nearest local exchange. This could be due to several reasons:

A faulty modem.
Lost connectivity from your house to the exchange.
Reboot your modem (switch off your modem, wait for few seconds and then switch on the modem again). This will re-synchronize the modem with the DSL Access Multiplexer at the local exchange. Wait for several minutes until the 'link' light stops blinking. If the 'link' light continuously blinks even after few reboot cycle, please call our Customer Interaction Center.

Check Username and Password
One of the most common problems is typing in the wrong username or password. Please ensure that you have typed in the user id in userid@ISP format. Please re-type them and try again. If you are still unable to get connected, it may be due to other problems.
